"When the fishing fleet returned to town it was an invasion...the fishermen in wool jackets, hip boots rolled down below the knees, tousled hair, faces red from wind, hands like hams, suspenders, loud voices, the smell of fish and diesel fuel....Even the weekly City Council meetings started with a curse, a fist-fight, followed by the Pledge of Allegiance... For God's sake, don't tell the urban social analyzers, they'll come up and try to 'fix' it."

Background
From a factory worker in the town of Muncie, Indiana, to R'nB saxophonist, through a stretch in the military and a 30-year career in the fire service, I have been an avid reader of poetry and philosophy. I moved to Alaska in 1965 and am now settled in the Anchorage area. I teach fire service related topics around the state, play jazz, and--of course--write. I have been a lecturer and public speaker for over 25 years and have been influenced most by poets Dylan Thomas and Thomas Hardy. My favorite philosophical writings come from the pens of Dr. Francis Schaeffer and Loren Eiseley.
